Gordon Orions to Head Washington State Academy of Sciences
In 2005, the Washington State Legislature authorized the creation of an independent, non-profit Washington State Academy of Sciences.
The Legislature charged the presidents of the University of Washington and Washington State University to serve as co-chairs of an organizing committee for the purpose of creating the Academy. Gordon Orians, a long time Lake Forest Park resident has been selected to serve as the first president. Professor Orians is professor emeritus of Biology at UW.
