Message from the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency
The regulations for the regional burn bans have changed. The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency calls the burn bans. The bans are more restrictive and will ban all wood burning, even from wood stoves and pellet stoves.
The change is required by state and federal requirements on fine particulate pollution. These particulates are associated with respiratory and cardiovascular problems.
If agency inspectors observe a burn ban violation, they will issue a Notice of Violation to the property owner and recommend a $1,000 penalty.
