Prepare for the potential for flooding
Over the next several days the weather will hover around freezing. As the snow melts and freezes, there is a potential for flooding. Please check the drains and ditch lines around your home to be sure they are flowing.
Figure 1 Drain ‐‐Check drains for snow, ice and debris. Make sure there is a pathway for water to travel to the drain and then down the drain.
Figure 2 Drainage Ditch‐‐‐Ditches can also freeze and create ice dams that have the potential for flooding. Clear the ditches where water enters the pipe and remove the snow
behind the entrance point.
Thank you for helping out in flood prevention. In case of flooding, the City has stored sandbags in various locations throughout the City.
