Join the Community Conversations

Mayor Hutchinson has been meeting with neighborhood groups about issues of concern to citizens. The Mayor would like to talk to block watches, community groups, and neighborhood associations about what is happening in the city.

These community conversations are an opportunity to talk together with your neighbors about what you want to see for the future of your city.

In addition to neighborhood groups, the City will be hosting a city wide Community Conversation at Third Place Commons, April 19, 2010.

City Council meeting, March 11, 2010

The City Council study session will include interviews of commissioner candidates, a discussion of the tree protection and replacement regulations and an update from Kign County Councilmember Bob Ferguson.  The regular meeting will continue with the discussion of the tree protection and replacement regulations.  For a complete council packet click the shortcut on the right titled City Council agendas, minutes and ordinances.

The Community Service Commission is seeking nominations for the Annual Good Neighbor Awards. Nominees must have made a memorable contribution to the Lake Forest Park community. It is not necessary for nominees to be city residents.

Submit nominations by March 25, 2010.

Request for Proposal (RFP)

The Planning Department is soliciting Request for Proposal (RFP) from qualified consultants for the purpose of preparing and implementing green building/low impact development codes and producing public information materials to promote green building and LID drainage practices in the city.

Coyotes are present in and around Lake Forest Park. They live in our green belts and ravines.

Coyotes are opportunistic animals. They have adapted to the suburbanization of their habitat. They feed on cats, small dogs and other small wildlife.

Traffic safety camera sign Traffic Safety Camera program update

The school zone traffic safety cameras are operating Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 9:30 am and 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. A flashing light as been added to help drivers identify the hours of operation. The speed limit of 20 miles per hour is also in effect when children are present.  

Payments may be made through the mail, at the Municipal Court or by placing payments in the secure payment box which is on the side wall of the City Hall building.

The traffic safety cameras have had an enormous impact on reducing the number of vehicles speeding in school zones.

Passport Services

PassportNeed a passport?

You can get your passport, passport pictures and travel cards at Lake Forest Park City Hall passport services office. The passport office is open Monday – Friday 1 pm to 6 pm and Saturday 10 am to 3 pm.

Lake Forest Park Residents Eligible for Shoreline Parks and Recreation Resident Rates and Scholarships in 2010

Lake Forest Park residents will be eligible for the same fees and early registration as Shoreline residents starting in January, 2010. Online registration and information is at www.shorelinewa.gov/parks. To register by phone call: Aquatics program, 206 801-2650; other programs, 206 801-2600

The City of Lake Forest Park will reimburse income eligible residents who are registered and attend cultural, recreation, and aquatic programs & camps through the Shoreline Parks Department. The City will reimburse each qualified resident up to $50.00 per quarter for Fall,Winter and Spring, and up to $100 for Summer Quarter. Instructions for reimbursement are on the application:

Draft Community Forest Management Plan

The City is continuing to work on a tree ordinance. To lay the groundwork for the future ordinance updates, and to provide a guide to manage the City’s forest resources, the Urban Forest Task Force (2009) has developed the Community Forest Management Plan. Residents are urged to read the draft and comment on it:

City Council approves two cost saving union agreements

Mayor David Hutchinson expressed deep appreciation today for the cooperation of Lake Forest Park's two city labor unions. The City Council approved two new labor contracts Thursday night, November 12, 2009, that provide for multi-year extensions of current contracts but delay future market wage adjustments until 2011.

Maintaining public streets in difficult times Washington Registration

Starting September 1, 2009, all vehicles registered in Lake Forest Park will be required to pay a $20 fee. The revenue from this fee will be used to maintain public streets in Lake Forest Park.

Focus on Safety: The City is working on improving pedestrian, bicycle and automobile safety throughout the community. The Council designated bike routes connecting the Burke-Gilman and the Interurban trails.

Bicycle Lockers

Bicycle lockers are available next to the southbound bus stop on Bothell Way NE & NE 170th St., adjacent to Starbuck's. To sign up for one, see Debbie Milan at Lake Forest Park City Hall front desk. There is a $25 refundable key deposit. The lockers are courtesy of Metro Transit, the City of Lake Forest Park and the Lake Forest Park Transportation Commission.


Environmental Mini–Grant Programs

The City of Lake Forest Park is offering an incentive mini-grant program for businesses, individuals and non-profits up to $1000 to restore flood related damage near streams, and up to $500 for businesses, individuals and non-profits up to $500 for improving the natural; environment.
